The Nilgiris - Brampton, Ontario

It was a bad decision to go dine at this outlet, else usually Nilgiris has a good reputation for South Indian food in GTA. I ordered onion tomato uttapam that was served almost cold, burnt on the underside, overcooked and really spicy. We were waiting for someone to come attend our ... table and after 10 minutes, someone finally decided to show up. We wanted an explanation for the condition of the food and the person just left to go to the kitchen and never returned. And when we asked for a refund, they refused saying we can make you another one. They kept arguing saying it was freshly prepared, but by that point, I had lost my appetite and just wanted to leave. The only good thing was the filter coffee, as we stepped out of the place after complaining to the manager for serving cold food. It almost felt like the uttapam was sitting on the counter unattended for an hour, until it got served on our table. Overall, an unexpectedly bad experience, and I would not recommend anyone to go there for their South Indian cravings. The Brampton location of Nilgiris certainly needs to be taught to respect food! I recently dined at a South Indian cuisine restaurant, I had their idli, medu vada, paper roast dosa, and filter coffee. The food was delightful, and I particularly enjoyed the flavors and authenticity of each dish. Service was prompt, with the food arriving quickly even when it was quite busy. ... @thenilgiristo has been hands down one the best South Indian restaurant I have been to outside India!! With lots of Jain options to offer with a dedicated menu, you def are going to have a tough time deciding what to have! I ended up ordering masala podi idli which should ideally be ... called ghee roast melt in mouth masala idli!! Def one of the best things they are offering.. Cilantro dosa and assorted uttapam followed idli.. I personally liked the dosa more than the uttapam but both were good!! Don't miss out on this the next time you are in Toronto!! Amazing authentic food , quick no fuss service ,down to earth manager was very busy when we visited that's usually a good sign for restaurant on Saturday afternoon.. Fantastic value for $$ Keep it up.. missed filter coffee shall get it next visit

A great spot for experiencing authentic South Indian cuisine. The service here is fast and the quality of the food is outstanding. Prices are quite good too.
