Mandarin Restaurant – Brampton - Brampton, Ontario

I used to come here all the time as a kid growing up, but hadn't been back in over 15 years since moving away from Canada. I was back in town for work a couple weeks ago and suddenly though I'd love to swing by Mandarin for dinner. I was a ... bit worried as I was concerned that it would live up to the great childhood memories I had, but I decided to risk it. I can happily say that Mandarin has not changed at all in 15 years, and I mean that in a very good way. They clearly have something that has always worked well, and they have not messed with it. The food was fresh, plentiful, and delicious as it always was. I was so happy to see all of my favourite dishes still available around the buffet. It is hands down the best Western style Chinese food you can get in Canada and going there brought back so many wonderful memories. Lastly, I was really impressed with the prices. I really thought it would be much more expensive than it was given the current economy and inflation, but they have kept the price fair and reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you can get. It’s a large and spacious all-you-can-eat buffet and they have a 2-hour seating policy. They accept reservations, but they also operate on first come first serve. I recommend making a reservation, specially on weekends and holidays, as the lineup can take hours. They have a great selection of vegetarian options, beef, ... chicken, pork, salmon, shrimp, salads, pasta, sushi, ribs, appetizers and dessert. The table service is fast and efficient. I have been many times at Mandarin and always get surprised for their lovely restaurant decoration, variety and taste of their food and customer service. Being Chinese New Year, it was extra busy, so there was a bit of a wait. We had Rachel as our server, she was great at keeping the beverages refilled... The food was fresh and amazing as usual.
