A few months ago we starting going to Fernando's for breakfast. Mainly because our regular spot has lousy coffee. Here we found the food was great and coffee as well. This place is now (deservedly) closed. The building is empty and there is a non payment of rent notice on the door. If I could give it zero l would . This place has been going downhill for a long time. Today I went in for lunch and a waitress gave ... me a menu. A guy (the cook? The owner?) came up and told me they were operating on a very limited menu today so order off the breakfast menu. I told him I didn't want breakfast, I had it hours ago. He snatched back the menu and said "There's the door, don't let it hit you on your way out!" When they go out of business maybe the new owners will be better. Read more

Atleast 4 stars. Amazing service, very nice guy that served me. I bought chicken club and western a week ago which was really really good. They didn’t have gravy which was disappointing but I guess better then them only having powdered gravy or something. The fries were good tho would ... have been bomb with gravy. They also didn’t have one or two other items on the menu. Which is also fine but maybe scrap that menu and print a new one on thick paper every week of the updated menu. I came here to write a review and will stick to my own experience. I was alarmed and disheartened to read the reviews and find out that some people had negative experiences with the staff. I'm a big believer in letting a business know if you've have a negative experience ... in person or through email/letter before writing reviews online. I place tons of value in family restaurants and small businesses.. we're drowning in chain restaurants and corporations! Give a small business a chance to have a conversation about what troubled you first. I've been here a few times because it's in my neighbourhood, but would be willing to make the trip for the breakfast if we lived elsewhere in the city. I love a good diner and although the atmosphere is lacking in my opinion, the breakfast exceeds expectations. The bacon and rye toast are of high quality and the potatoes were seasoned beautifully. My eggs were always cooked exactly the way they should be and the coffee was tasty and hot. The portions were big and price was decent. The staff were attentive and friendly during all my visits and were appropriately attentive. Visited this family restaurant yesterday. Love these little places! Our server was fabulous, so friendly and wonderful with children. The food was also very good. Not cheap...Toronto pricing but you got alot. Only disappointment was they charged us for sharing a meal...really for a plate? Not like ... they split it or anything. Also an up charge for rye toast...which is fine but again..really?? Meal was $14.99... So I left in a bad mood which kinda ruined it. Felt bad after having such a fabulous waitress. But principal!
