The Meatball Pizza & Pasta - Banff, Alberta

Food is not worth the price. We spent $50 on food that should have cost half. The pizza tasted like fast food pizza with a premium tag. The service was good and I have no complaints on that matter.

I don’t think I have ever left a review before but our experience was so bad that I feel like I NEED to make this. We arrived shortly after we checked into the Ptarmigan Inn after a long day of driving and were hoping for an easy post-trip meal. When ... we got there we noticed folks around us in a bit of a sour mood and the vibes felt kind of strange. The server took forever to come grab our drink order and I let her know we were ready to also place our food order whenever she was. She came back quickly and wrote down our order. An hour passed and no one checked on us, our food didn’t arrive, all the while tens of tables who arrived up to half our after us received their food and were eating. My partner was annoyed so went up and asked for the bill and if it was possible for us to just pay for our drinks and leave since we had places to be and it was taking too long. They said sure and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. Another 15 mins went by and no one brought us our bill. We finally went to get up to leave out of frustration (and find another place to actually eat at since we had a hungry 5 year old in tow) and that caught their attention. When we went to pay for our drinks the server was talking to us like nothing had occurred and that they didn’t just waste over an hour of our time. Horrible vibes and service, the hotel should consider a change in host restaurant if possible. Considering the other bad reviews, it seems this isn’t the first time a scenario like ours has happened. The food was excellent. The waitress was very attentive. My wife and I went home in very good spirits. Loved it. Good job...

We were not very hungry when we arrived at the restaurant at 8 PM on a Friday night. We were seated in the lounge by the open patio door which was very nice because it was a warm night and we could see the people passing on the street. And ... the lounge was bright and cheerful. My wife and I ordered the spaghetti and meat balls because it was their signature dish. We didn’t wait long for our waitress to bring the dishes. The first thing we noticed was they were very generous portions and were presented well. The spaghetti wasn’t overcooked, the tomato sauce was rich and tangy and the three large meat balls were spicy and flavourful. This was about the best bowl of spaghetti and meat balls I had had in a very long time. I didn’t intend to eat the whole portion, but I did anyways because I couldn’t stop. My wife, who is a small person, neatly finished her’s as well, and as I said, when we arrived we were not that hungry. When we return to Banff the next time I know where we are going for dinner. A shout out to the kitchen staff and our server M for making our night extra special. I’m not kidding this place makes a mean bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. Read more

We started next door at Pancini but after sitting waiting for any type of service we left and went to the Meatball. Glad we did, as service from the bartender, who also waited on tables, was fantastic. Very personable young man, very helpful and friendly throughout our ... time there. Food was very good at a reasonable price. But the service is what kept us there and will bring us back again. A most enjoyable evening! Read more
