Jim’s Restaurant - Arnprior, Ontario

Went with a friend for breakfast. The service was impeccable. I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name but he was friendly, courteous and actually “set” our table instead of throwing the cutlery and napkins on the table for you to distribute yourself like sooo many other restaurants do now. It was ... very busy but he told us in advance that it may be a longer wait than usual but we were fine with it. Food was tasty, well presented and prepared perfectly. We ordered Jim's Bacon Cheeseburger which was really quite good. The patty is fresh ground beef which was well seasoned, simple toppings, on a fresh bun. The fries seemed to be fresh cut also, these were a little under seasoned but easily fixed by adding your own shake of salt. ... We had a side of gravy which was quite good too. (There are other hamburgers on the menu, these are cooked from frozen, I'd recommend getting the Jim's hamburger over the other one) The service was good, they were friendly and helpful. Everything arrived at our table quickly and hot with a smile from our friendly server. Jim's Restaurant will deliver on a classic diner experience if you are looking for that. The front to the restaurant is set up with a bunch of booths in sight of the kitchen and the front counter. It looks like there is extra seating at the back with tables and chairs. You can hear the kitchen staff working and servers bringing up orders. Overall a good experience, there are not many restaurants like this anymore. The price vs portion size is great, you get good value for your money here. We will be going back for sure. Next time to try the cheesecake, we have heard very good things about it and I like dessert. Read more

It's your basic small town diner. Expect to see the staff greeting people by name as they walk in. Standard small town diner food as well, solid, dependable. I got the breakfast and was pleased to receive it quickly and hot. I would've appreciated perhaps one less sausage in return ... for more home fries, but that's probably just me. The eggs were cooked as I ordered, the sausages sizzling, and homefries were great. The coffee was pretty dismal, but in that way that adds to the greasy spoon experience, you don't resent it in the moment, it feel right. You know what I mean. It felt a bit expensive, but that's breakfast these days. I went on my birthday, I think I'd like to repeat that next year. Read more

Best club sandwich in town! Real turkey, real delicious! Comes with fresh cut French fries and coleslaw. Not really my favourite coleslaw, but that’s okay. I’ve had a great grilled cheese sandwich here in the past. Must do that again! I’ve also had the hot turkey sandwich. Oh, and the ... pizza is top notch! Lots of options when nobody wants to cook! Great dinner! Jim’s is like a downtown diner. It’s super clean with friendly and efficient wait staff. The food my husband and I ordered was delicious - fish & chips for him and shish kabobs for me. Both were served with more sides than we could imagine ever eating. Beer ... was cold and served with a big smile. If we lived here we would be here often! Read more
