Located on Alberni Street, in an area which boasts a number of great restaurants, Market offers the feel of a Boutique Hotel with the ambience of a trendy lounge. The restaurant has a distinctly tasteful but very modern feel and the covered patio is inviting, with comfy wicker chairs and heaters to keep you cozy.
The food at Market is very good and the focus is on regional ingredients and fresh local seafood. The menu offers a variety of starters (including both raw and cooked seafood dishes), a very good selection of both fish and meat main dishes, as well as a 6 course tasting menu. Ordering a variety of dishes to share with someone special would be a perfect way to experience the great food that this restaurant has to offer.
Service at Market is very good, which is to be expected since it is located in the beautiful Shangri-La hotel. The bartenders are friendly and are always down for mixing their own special drinks at your request!
100 Centennial Way, Burnaby; Phone 604-299-1155
This restaurant is a classic for discerning diners in Burnaby and surrounding areas. Located at the top of beautiful Burnaby Mountain, this restaurant has a magnificent view which would be enough to please any tourist. But couple this with great service and a fantastic menu, and you have the perfect mix for a romantic dinner!
The menu includes wonderful assortment of fresh seafood and meats. You are sure to have trouble deciding on just one item, so I would strongly suggest dining with someone who likes to share!
6664 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby; Phone 604-298-4278
This is the (not-so) secret gem of Burnaby! Tucked away on 13 acres at Deer Lake, the restaurant has the casual elegance of a heritage home, with high ceilings and a big fireplace.
The menu offers Pacific Northwest cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. There is a nice assortment of dishes with something that will appeal to all tastes – seafood, meats, and vegetarian. I recommend trying something different – something you wouldn’t normally order. An enticing menu, excellent service, an award winning wine list, and a calm relaxing setting – what more can you ask for when planning a romantic evening?

Located in the heart of Yaletown, is the very popular the Blue Water Cafe. The tall ceilings, exposed brick and beautiful wooden beams in this converted warehouse heritage building give the restaurant a comfortable, cozy feel.
The service and the food here are always great! You will pay more for it, but it is well worth it! The menu focus is on wild, sustainable seafood – fresh oysters, amazing small plates, excellent entrees, and an extensive wine list. This is a great choice for celebrating special occasions. But, with that incredible raw bar, it is also the perfect place to stop for oysters and a couple of drinks!
562 Beatty Street, Vancouver: Phone 604-879-7116
Located on Beatty Street, between West Pender and Dunsmuir, Belgian-themed Chambar has won many awards for their excellent and innovative cuisine. The menu has an inspired assortment of seafood and meats, including some game dishes. And their wonderful set menus are always recommended. Service is exactly what you want in any fine dining restaurant – polite, friendly and prompt. The soft lighting in the small, but lovely, dining room sets the mood for a very romantic meal.
OR, if you are looking to impress and want to try something different, maybe joining one of the cooking classes at their Dirty Apron Cooking School will intrigue you! They even suggest it as a good idea for a first date. Check out the website at www.dirtyapron.com.

Down in Beautiful Coal Harbor we have Lift Bar and Grill. The sexy décor and Majestic view makes Lift one of the most romantic spots to bring a date in Downtown Vancouver. The servers are great and the wine list is large, so there are many options. We recommend you take advantage of their Dine Out Menu if you want to avoid the Valentines Day rush and celebrate early, great value at $38 Dollars for a 3 Course Dinner; and Lunch at $28. Lift is also great in the summer; check out their rooftop patio which is perfect for bevvies on those lazy summer afternoons.

254 Newport Drive, Port Moody; Phone 604-461-7266
This is a Japanese classic. There are two locations, one is in Coquitlam (behind Coquitlam Centre) and the other is in Port Moody. Both restaurants offer amazing fresh seafood – sashimi that melts in your mouth, big rolls and a great selection of platters.
The ambience is calmer than the average sushi spot. Booths are available (and recommended), but the tables are laid out to give you enough privacy. I’ve always had great service here, but just remember to ask for what you need, when you need it (lol)!
1136 Robson Street, Vancouver; Phone 604-687-0655
Zefferelli’s is a staple in Vancouver when you are looking for a decent plate of pasta! Located above the Cactus Club on Robson Street (yah, you probably used the restrooms before!), they offer a great dining experience. Their menu offers a good selection of pizza, pasta, a variety of seafood and meats, as well as an excellent antipasto platter.
Getting a seat by the windows is ideal if you are a people watcher (and on Robson Street, who isn’t!). But you might want to avoid it on dates, as it can get distracting and could take your attention away from your partner (decidedly unromantic). Zefferelli’s has the mood and ambiance for a romantic dinner, but it can get quite lively later in the evening. So, if you prefer a quieter venue, my suggestion would be to have an earlier dinner followed by a romantic stroll along Robson Street.
1026 Granville Street, Vancouver; Phone 604-678-1049
Located on Granville Street, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, this restaurant offers a truly unique dining experience – you can literally have your dinner in bed! The upper floor has the feeling of a somewhat decadent lounge with dining beds set up for your comfort (great fun for larger parties too). In the lower level dining room the soaring ceilings and opulent Middle Eastern décor make this restaurant a feast for the eyes as well. You can expect good service and a relaxed and friendly vibe.
The menu offers a selection of Mediterranean, Asian, North African and Indian dishes. Exotic taste sensations abound in the mezze plates, tapas, tagines and curries. Sanafir is a memorable place for a romantic date.
207 West Hastings St., Vancouver; Phone 604-688-1655
There are four locations in the innovative Nuba group, including 3 cafes and one restaurant. But you will definitely want to experience the Nuba Restaurant on West Hastings if you haven’t already. This is inspired, authentic Lebanese Cuisine at its finest! Nuba prides itself on its high quality, fresh, organic ingredients which are obtained locally whenever possible. The menu is superb. There is a selection of both hot and cold starters and an array of main dishes and shared plates. Nuba also has a good selection of delicious vegetarian and vegan choices to accommodate all those healthy eaters!
The service here is good and I recommend telling the servers if it is your first time. That way they can assist you by making some helpful recommendations on the menu. Apparently, sharing is the traditional way to enjoy Lebanese food. So sit close and enjoy sharing an assortment of wonderful Lebanese dishes at Nuba.
